Oligonucleotide Synthesis

Oligonucleotides are short strands (usually 18-24 bases) of synthetic DNA created for research purposes. Longer lengths and modifications can be made for varying uses. Common applications for oligos include clinical testing and basic science research.

The Biopolymers Facility has negotiated discounted pricing for oligonucleotide synthesis through our third party vendor: Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT). Our extensive client base and electronic ordering system allow us to group multiple requests for oligo synthesis together in one order, and pass the savings on to you.

Direct shipping to your lab allows for rapid turnaround time. Most oligonucleotide orders for the lowest scale with no additional purifications or modifications will be shipped directly to the client within two or three business days. Any further processing such as 5' or 3' modifications may require additional time to synthesize.

All orders are shipped directly to the client.

Please make sure that your address is listed as the shipping address on your IDT user profile. DO NOT use the BPF address.

Orders should be placed through the IDT web portal by selecting "Place an Order".

If you have any questions please contact our staff via e-mail at oligos@genome.med.harvard.edu or call our facility at 617-432-6805.

If you wish to cancel your order, please contact IDT directly for fastest processing.
